Lecture at Rijksuniversiteit Groningen
A few months ago, I received a kind invitation by colleague Jonna Brenninkmeijer – check out her wonderful book Neurotechnologies of the Self! – to give a lecture about my upcoming dissertation to her Psychology master-students at the RUG. So this Thursday I’m off to Groningen to talk about valuing plasticity, and the benefits and pitfalls of a brain-inspired good life. The course at hand deals with the links between brain, consciousness and society, and covers interesting topics such as the interplay between rationality and emotion in patients with Capgras Syndrome, the myth of total recall, and the politics of lateralisation theories. Makes me wish I could follow the entire course…
