Since september 2023, I work as ‘lector’ (professor UAS) at the research center What Art Knows, at Maastricht Institute of Arts (Zuyd University of Applied Sciences).
With our research activities, we aim to strengthen the art education and the art practice. Our research is focussed on two themes: artistic research and engagement in the arts. How does art become relevant? And what does it mean to claim that artists create knowledge? We develop artistic research as an experimental, intimate ethnography in which systematic sensitivity for the world is fundamental. The research center stimulates work that explores the riches hidden between opposing clichés about art, society, politics, academia and research.
