New job: lector What Art Knows!

Super honored and happy to finally share that on September 1st I will start as lector (professor UAS) in artistic research, at the research center What Art Knows at the Maastricht Institute of Arts at Zuyd University of Applied Sciences! I have been working there as senior researcher since 2016, under the inspirational guidance of Ruth Benschop. I am proud to be her successor and continue our aim of cultivating artistic research and artistic engagement.

As lector (Dutch name for a professor at an applied univesrity) I head the research center and build bridges between artistic research, art education and the art and cultural sector. I am much looking forward to this new and exciting position.

With a background in practical philosophy, Science & Technology Studies, and social design, I am an advocate for interdisciplinarity. As a translator I like to cross borders and dive into disciplines, to pirate concepts, methods and approaches. I teach and study ethics of artistic research and aesthetics of societal engagement practices: the ways by which art and design become relevant and valuable in different societal contexts. My aim is to cultivate an ethical sensibility and responsive attitude among artists, designers, scientists and engineers. Read more.
